How to Completely Publish a Yelp Review on the Yelp for iPhone App

Do you have a really cool story you'd like to tell the Yelp community about your most recent experience at a location? With the newest Yelp update that took place on August 15th, you can now fully submit your review for a business (instead of just drafting the review for publishing later). This article will tell you how to do this.

This article would benefit from screenshots.
You can help wikiHow by reading Take Screenshots for wikiHow for instructions. Notice added on {{{date}}}.
STEPS
1
POWER ON AND UNLOCK YOUR IPHONE. Type in your 4-digit pin (if you have one installed).
2
DOWNLOAD AND INSTALL YELP FOR IPHONE APP FROM THE APPLE APPSTORE (IF YOU HAVEN\'T DONE SO ALREADY).
3
OPEN THE YELP FOR IPHONE APP.
4
LOGIN TO YOUR YELP ACCOUNT, IF YOU HAVEN\'T ALREADY DONE SO.
5
TAP SEARCH TAB FROM THE BLACK BAR AT THE BOTTOM OF THE SCREEN.
6
PERFORM A SEARCH FOR A BUSINESS.
7
TAP THE BUSINESS THAT IS LOCATED ON THE LIST.
8
TAP THE "ADD REVIEW" BUTTON FROM THE BUSINESS\' PROFILE PAGE.
9
TAP THE RATING THAT BEST DESCRIBES THE REVIEW YOU ARE ABOUT TO WRITE, IN THE SCALE THEY GIVE YOU (RATINGS RANGE BETWEEN 1 STAR AND 5 STARS). THE SUBMISSIONS WILL NOT LET THE REVIEW BE POSTED, WITHOUT A RATING. To help you out, as you hover over the rating box, there will be several words that will help you explain your rating. Click the star-rating you believe should best match the conditions of your upcoming review. _Don't be too harsh, but be firm in your belief._
1
-star: Eek! Methinks not! (verbatim)
2
-star: Meh! I've experienced better. (verbatim)
3
-star: A-Ok.
4
-star: Yay! I'm a fan.
5
-star: Woohoo! As good as it gets!
Don't be too easy, as there is always room for improvement.
There have been several companies that have 5-star ratings, but don't let the 5-star rating be the only rating you give the companies you review.
10
TAP INTO THE BOX BENEATH THE RATINGS SECTION (THAT IS NOW UNLABELED).
If you have written a review for the company before, this label will now be called the "Add a Review Update" field.
This box does have two paragraphs of example-text in this box, that, when tapped into, disappears in lieu of your response.
11
WRITE YOUR REVIEW, BASED ON THE RATING YOU GAVE IT. Below the review, you'll find a place to write a text-based review-box. The box may contain up to 5001 characters. (See writing a Review Update below if you want to add more characters than that.)
Good things to think about depend on business type, but most answer the overall questions: _How was the overall experience?, How was the atmosphere? Were the waiters cleanly dressed and well-mannered? Were the ticket booths adequately stocked? Were the restrooms clean? For transportation items (bridges and tunnel systems leading up to the business), were the road you traveled on, well maintained?_
As you read other reviews, you'll find that experienced writers get good "compliments" on these key points, as well as many other things that may not appear on the list at all.
12
TAP THE "NEXT" BUTTON FROM THE TOP RIGHT CORNER OF THE SCREEN TO SAVE YOUR REVIEW.
13
TAP THE POST BUTTON AT THE TOP RIGHT CORNER TO EXIT BACK TO THE BUSINESS\' PROFILE PAGE.
TIPS
First time writers of written words in the business community section, please be sure to read the Talk page guidelines before submitting any talk page messages to the site.
Although this article is geared to the listings in the database that already have a business listing, if you come upon a business that has no listing at all in the database, follow the directions at Add a Business to Yelp With the Yelp for iPhone App to create a new business listing for the business.
WARNINGS
Realize that for each review. that these reviews are LOCATION-SPECIFIC, and are not to be categorized for reviews based on the whole chain in general.
On occasion, you'll walk across a business that are no longer in business (and are marked as "CLOSED" by Yelp moderators right on the top-level location page.) On this page, you'll find no other reviews. A MAJOR RULE AS A YELP MEMBER, IS NOT TO RE-REVIEW THESE CLOSED BUSINESSES.
If you type too short a review, the system will pick it up as a Tip and not a review, so make it moderately long, so as to not trigger this feature. The response of "This place is so cool" with another sentence or two, it will trigger as a tip and not a review.
